2025 USSSA Eastern C National Championship 4th Place Finalist and Winner of Team Sportsmanship Award
The Stars qualified for the USSSA National Championships and fought hard over four days, ultimately earning 4th place out of 15 teams. Despite weather delays, extreme heat, and multiple location changes, they showed resilience and were honored with the "Team Sportsmanship Award." Special shout-out to newcomer Katelyn P (#8) for hitting two clutch home runs in the final game to force extra innings.

2025 USSSA The Flame Thrower 2nd Place Runner Up
The Stars went undefeated in pool play and showed incredible grit in the championship game, narrowly missing the win despite outhitting their opponent. Standout performances included Katelyn P. (#8) with 6 runs scored, Riley S. (#10) with 5 stolen bases, Kaylee S. (#14) with 6 RBIs, Emma M. (#57) with 10 put outs, Charlotte D. (#9) with zero runs allowed in her pitching performance, and Olivia G. (#2) hitting her first official double to give the team a late lead. Their teamwork and determination earned them a well-deserved runner-up finish.

2025 USSSA Memorial Day NIT 3rd Place Finalist
The Stars team earned 3rd place at the Memorial Day NIT tournament after an undefeated first round that secured them the #1 seed. They played with hustle and heart, narrowly losing their first pool game by just one run. Their performance throughout the tournament was a testament to their determination and teamwork.

2025 USSSA Momma Won't Mind 2nd Place Runner Up
The Stars played five consecutive games over 12 hours, finishing with a 3-game winning streak and earning their first rings. Standout performances included Charlotte D. (#9) pitching 5 strikeouts, Emma M. (#57) earning 9 RBIs and Olivia G. (#2) leading the team in overall scoring with 6 runs and 6 stolen bases. But the most memorable run goes to Eve S. (#7) who hit her first home run of the season, earning the team game ball!

As a newly established team in the Fall of 2024, the Stars Serensits squad won their first hardware in this Halloween tournament. They battled it out in 5 games and secured their spot in the finals, ending as Runner Up!

Head Coach / Manager
Dave Serensits
Dave Serensits is a passionate and highly experienced youth sports coach, having led more than 40 teams since 2013 across basketball, baseball, softball, and other disciplines. He currently serves as League President of the Central Loudoun Basketball League (CLBL), where he has also held roles as board member and director of elementary programs. His basketball coaching career includes seven seasons at Herndon High School, where he contributed to five district championships and a state runner-up finish. He now leads the Team Attack 2032 girls team under Loudoun Basketball Academy and has coached over 20 CLBL teams across all grade levels.
In baseball and softball, Dave has coached more than 15 Central Loudoun Little League teams and served as assistant coach in the Leesburg Girls Softball League and Freedom All-Stars. He is in his second year coaching competitive travel fastpitch softball with the Ashburn Shooting Stars, having led both 10U and now 12U age divisions, with his 10U team earning multiple USSSA tournament finalist honors and a top-10 power ranking. His multi-sport coaching also includes flag football, field hockey, and soccer. Dave has organized coaching clinics and a basketball skills academy that has trained over 5,000 elementary students, with a 99% player return rate season over season. A Leesburg resident since 2000, he and his wife Katie are proud parents to three school-aged children—Aiden, Brady, and Riley—all of whom are multi-sport athletes. Professionally, Dave is an Assistant Principal at Meridian High School and holds an undergraduate degree in Special Education from Penn State University and a master's degree in Administration and Supervision from George Mason University.

Megan Galata
Megan Galata is a passionate advocate for youth sports and activities, having served in coaching and volunteer roles including Head Basketball Coach in i9 Sports, Assistant Basketball Coach in the Eastern Loudoun Basketball League (ELBL), Team Parent in the Lower Loudoun Girls Softball League (LGSL), Certified First Aider for Girl Scouts of America, and now Media Manager for the Ashburn Shooting Stars Travel Fastpitch Softball league. A lifelong athlete, she grew up playing sports and remains a dedicated fitness enthusiast, having competed in strength training events including HYROX in Washington, D.C.
Professionally, Megan is a strategic advertising and marketing leader with nearly 20 years of experience in the media industry. She currently serves as Director and Head of National Client Strategy at USA TODAY NETWORK, leading a high-performing strategy team that supports the National Enterprise Sales Division responsible for over $100M in annual revenue. Her expertise spans digital media, content solutions, proposal development, and cross-functional collaboration. Megan is known for mentoring teams, fostering inclusive work cultures, and launching innovative sales programs. Megan and her husband Fred have been married for 15 years and are proud parents to Olivia and Sebastian, both school-aged multi-sport athletes. She holds an undergraduate degree in Marketing Management from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in Advertising from Syracuse University. Her leadership blends strategic vision with a passion for empowering young athletes and future leaders.

Hillary Sheehan
Hillary Sheehan has loved the game of softball since she was five years old. For the past seven years, she has dedicated herself to coaching youth softball, beginning with 6U in the Lower Loudoun Girls Softball League and advancing through each level up to 12U with the Ashburn Shooting Stars Travel Organization. Hillary believes that players perform at their best when they feel supported, encouraged, and lifted up both on and off the field.
Beyond coaching, Hillary is a proud wife and mother of two strong girls, Kaylee and Harper. If she’s not on the softball field with one, you’ll likely find her at the cheer gym cheering on the other. A passionate educator for the past decade, Hillary has taught elementary school for 10 years and is currently a 5th grade teacher at Rosa Lee Carter Elementary.

Steve Swart
Steve Swart is a deeply committed softball coach with five years’ experience coaching teams in the Ashburn Girls Softball League and Shooting Stars organizations, and currently serves as a board member and Secretary of the Ashburn Girls Softball League. In addition to these local contributions, Steve stays current on the latest coaching developments through membership in both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and USA Softball. Beyond the wins and losses, Steve believes in the values and life skills that softball imparts, including creating an environment where players can build confidence, develop resilience, and cultivate a strong work ethic. Steve is passionate about helping each athlete develop a genuine love for the game.
An Ashburn resident since 2011, Steve and his wife Amanda are proud parents to girls—Eve, Carolyn, and Rosie—all of whom play softball in AGSL. Professionally, Steve is corporate counsel for a national construction company. Steve holds undergraduate degrees in Journalism and Political Science from Penn State University and a law degree from George Mason University.
