The vision of the Ashburn Shooting Stars is to establish an environment that promotes girls softball so that our players can compete at the highest level of competition.
For our older players the Shooting Stars mission is more focused on providing a competitive, challenging yet positive environment that offers the necessary college exposure that allows each student/athlete the ability to grow and to develop into a well-balanced and confident player, while preparing them to take the next step towards an enjoyable college softball career.
The overall goal of the Ashburn Shooting Stars is to advance to National Championships, develop young athletes who qualify for college scholarships, and promote the skills of all players in the program.
Ashburn Shooting Stars is an affiliate of the Ashburn Girls Softball League and is a volunteer-based recreational and travel non-profit league for players in Loudoun County, Virginia.
OUR VISION
COMPETITIVE LEVELS
Ashburn Shooting Stars offers multiple competitive levels to support player development at every stage. Whether you're just starting out or preparing for college recruitment, our team structure provides the right balance of challenge, commitment, and opportunity. Below is a breakdown of our team levels - National, Gold, Black, and White - so families can better understand what to expect and where a player may best fit.
TEAM LEVELS
NATIONAL
These teams will compete at the 'A' level, actively seeking the highest level of competition available. Likely consisting of players interested in pursuing college and who are capable of competing against the top talent in their age group. While paid coaches are not mandatory, it is a strong possibility. Gold teams should expect to travel to most tournaments. All Gold National teams will be expected to participate in an Alliance National Championship.
GOLD
These teams will compete at the 'A/Open' level and will have a more regionally focused schedule. Players on these teams may still be exploring their interest in playing college softball and are committed to a highly competitive experience. Their schedules should include challenging events and culminate in a National Championship other than USSSA (e.g., Triple Crown, USA, Alliance Open).
BLACK
These teams will compete at the 'B/Open' level. The majority of players here are likely more focused on preparing for middle and high school teams and enjoy playing the game. Younger age group black teams may be on the path to becoming Gold. Their schedule would likely be local with a few challenging events and should culminate with a National Championship (Triple Crown, USA, USSSA)
WHITE
These teams will compete at the 'B/C' level with a local schedule mixed with double headers. Typically composed of players who are the younger side of an age group or newly formed teams. The focus here is on skill development with an eye toward becoming B level.
